The administration of President Donald Trump intends to appoint a two-star American general to lead the International Stabilization Force (ISF) in Gaza, according to sources cited by Axios. This appointment would aim to strengthen U.S. involvement in the security and reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, in the context of a UN Security Council resolution that authorized the establishment of the ISF. U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Mike Waltz, informed Israeli officials about the Trump administration's plans, which also include the formation of a Peace Council aimed at coordinating funding for the redevelopment of Gaza.

Trump announced that details about the world leaders in this council will be made public at the beginning of 2026, emphasizing that many countries wish to participate. The announcement came after former British Prime Minister Tony Blair withdrew from the race for the council presidency due to opposition from some Arab states.
