Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated before Russian senators that American President Donald Trump does not intend to lift the sanctions imposed on Russia, but rather, is extending them. Lavrov accused Trump's predecessor, Joe Biden, of 'undermining confidence in the dollar' and forcing BRICS member states to seek alternative payment methods. He emphasized that Biden is not the only one responsible for this situation and mentioned that Russia, under President Vladimir Putin's leadership, is aware of these challenges. Lavrov warned that the search for alternative payment systems is gaining ground not only within BRICS but also globally.
