The President of the USA, Donald Trump, has decided to extend the sanctions against Russia for another year, in response to its aggression against Ukraine. The executive order, which will come into effect on February 20, extends a series of anti-Russian sanctions imposed by previous executive orders issued by American presidents in 2014, 2018, and 2022.

The first sanctions were introduced in 2014, under the administration of President Barack Obama, through presidential decree no. 13660, which provided for the freezing of assets of individuals involved in the occupation of Crimea by Russia. The list of sanctions has been updated several times during President Joe Biden's term, reflecting the ongoing international tensions.
