President Donald Trump characterized Cuba as a "failing nation," highlighting the deep economic crisis it faces, marked by fuel shortages and social difficulties. In a statement made on Air Force One, Trump stated that Havana should seek an agreement with the United States, mentioning that Marco Rubio is currently discussing with Cuban officials. Although the situation in Cuba is alarming, Trump dismissed the idea of a military intervention to overthrow the regime, comparing it to the intervention in Venezuela.

Cuba is facing frequent power outages and a lack of fuel, exacerbating economic difficulties, especially due to the American embargo. Airlines have suspended flights to Cuba, and the Trump administration has imposed trade restrictions, citing Cuba's ties to Iran, Russia, and China. In this context, Mexico has sent humanitarian aid to Cuba, while Washington is pressuring other states to stop oil deliveries to the island. Trump acknowledged that the situation represents a "humanitarian threat" to Cubans.
