American journalists compared the banner with Trump's face at the DOJ to "the backdrop of a famous speech given in 1989 by the Romanian autocrat Nicolae Ceaușescu, who shamelessly lied to his people for the last time."

American President Donald Trump has been compared by American journalists to Nicolae Ceaușescu, after a large banner featuring his image was displayed at the U.S. Department of Justice. Reporters from the Washington Post noted similarities between the building's decor and the propagandistic aesthetics typical of speeches delivered by the former Romanian dictator.

The banner, unfurled between the columns of the building, includes the slogan "Make America Safe Again."

This is not the first time Trump has been compared to Ceaușescu; British journalist Gideon Rachman made a similar parallel, mentioning Trump's appetite for flattery.

Additionally, last year, banners featuring Trump's image were displayed on other government buildings, and his name was proposed to be added to the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
