The Presidential Administration warns that an AI-generated image of Nicușor Dan and Donald Trump is a fake being shared online

The Presidential Administration warned on Friday evening, October 2, that an image created with the help of artificial intelligence was circulating on social media, presented as being related to the photograph in which President Nicușor Dan appears alongside United States President Donald Trump.

According to Cotroceni, the image is a parody and represents a fake intended to ridicule the diplomatic effort associated with the photographs and to generate distrust in the authorities and public communications.

The Presidential Administration explained that the similarity of the framing in the official photographs does not indicate manipulation. At the reception hosted by Donald Trump in honor of the leaders attending the United Nations General Assembly, photographic access was granted only to the official White House photographer. The images were subsequently processed and sent simultaneously to the representatives of the participating countries.

On Friday, at 3:16 p.m., a photograph was published on President Nicușor Dan’s X account showing him alongside Donald Trump and his partner, Mirabela Grădinaru. The two had attended events in New York approximately one week earlier. Cotroceni thus reiterated the explanations previously given to the press regarding the origin and distribution of the official photographs.
