At the same time, the president commented on the death of an American citizen, Alex Pretti, who was killed by a federal agent in Minneapolis, calling the incident "very sad." Trump distanced himself from his advisor Stephen Miller, who referred to Pretti as an "assassin," emphasizing that carrying a weapon during a protest is not acceptable. Noem invoked self-defense for the agent involved, but video analysis contradicted this theory, leading to Trump's dissatisfaction. Trump also had a two-hour discussion with Noem, highlighting the importance of her response in the context of the incident.
