During the singing of the national anthem, President Donald Trump was booed by New York fans at Madison Square Garden, where he attended Game 3 of the NBA Finals after 27 years.
At 79 years old, Trump became the first sitting American president to attend an NBA Finals, but he was met with louder boos than the San Antonio Spurs team. Security measures were extremely strict, with long lines at the entrance and a ban on bags, which sparked discussions in the city.
Trump was invited by the owner of the Knicks, James Dolan, and sat in a glass-protected box alongside his niece, Kai Trump, and other officials. New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani was present at the game, paying $1,000 for a ticket. Trump arrived by Marine One helicopter, being greeted by protesters holding anti-Trump messages.
