U.S. President Donald Trump verbally attacked a journalist who asked him on Thursday, before a trip to North Carolina, whether he was tired of traveling for campaign rallies. The exchange took place amid the cancellation of several events scheduled for the weekend, shortly before the midterm elections set for November 3.
Trump initially replied that he felt perfectly fine, then made insulting remarks about the journalist’s physical appearance, calling him “disgusting” and urging him to make an effort to get back into shape.
In place of the canceled rallies, the White House leader was expected to take part in several online events. The Republican National Committee explained that these virtual rallies would allow the president to reach a larger number of voters during the limited time remaining before the election. According to the party, Trump was expected to address voters in nearly 20 states in this way. The measure was announced during the intense electoral mobilization period ahead of the election.
