President Donald Trump announced that he might request an additional funding of 200 billion dollars for the Pentagon, considering it a "small price to pay" to ensure the necessary resources in the war with Iran. This request has generated controversy in Congress, where both Democrats and some Republicans contest the need for these funds, given previous allocations for defense. Trump emphasized that the money is needed not only for the current conflict but also to maintain a well-equipped army. However, opposition in Congress is becoming increasingly vocal, demanding more information about the use of the funds and questioning the appropriateness of such spending in the context of an already high public debt. Additionally, the administration has accelerated arms sales to Gulf allies, bypassing Congress to respond quickly to Iranian threats. This situation reflects internal tensions within the Republican Party and concerns related to a prolonged conflict.
