In a phone interview, Donald Trump stated that negotiations with Iran will continue and that everyone will be satisfied with the outcome. His comments came after Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the president of the Iranian Parliament, rejected discussions with the U.S., accusing them of threats and blockades over the Strait of Hormuz, considering them a violation of the ceasefire. Ghalibaf criticized Trump's decision to impose a blockade and warned that Iran has military options ready in case the ceasefire mediated by Pakistan expires. Trump responded that Iran will suffer if it does not negotiate, emphasizing that he will not allow Tehran to obtain nuclear weapons. He also announced that U.S. representatives will travel to Islamabad for discussions, although Iran has not confirmed participation. In this context, the U.S. has maintained a naval blockade against Iran, increasing tensions in the region.
