The system, at an estimated cost of $175 billion, will be operational by the end of his term. Trump has previously signed an executive order to develop the shield, designed to protect US territory. Although inspired by Israel's success, experts warn that such systems are better suited for short- and medium-range attacks, not intercontinental missiles.
