The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, proposed, during a cooperation forum in Omsk, that the war in Ukraine should be "frozen."

"Perhaps this conflict should already be frozen and we should return to the Istanbul 2.0 formula, as significant results were achieved there. Naturally, under the guarantees of the great powers, including Russia, and to move towards a long-awaited peace,” said the President of Kazakhstan.

Tokayev emphasized that the roots of the war in Ukraine are "incomprehensible," comparing it to the conflict between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which has historical origins. He stated that all hostile actions must be stopped, as their continuation would benefit the adversaries of the Russian Federation.

In response, Putin promised to inform Tokayev about the details of the war in Ukraine.

Tokayev also praised Putin for his political flexibility in international relations.

This discussion took place in the context of Ukrainian drone attacks in Russia, which affected commercial and sports activities.
