Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an interview with Fox News that freezing hostilities along the current front line represents a realistic path to ending the war launched by Russia. The statement was made during a discussion about the possibility of a peace agreement that would preserve the current military situation.
Asked whether he would accept such an agreement, provided Ukraine retained most of its territory, Zelensky answered affirmatively. The Kyiv leader said the fighting could stop immediately and that freezing the situation could put an end to “Russian terror.”
Zelensky said Ukraine would subsequently seek security guarantees from United States President Donald Trump and its European allies. These guarantees would be intended to ensure the preservation of peace and prevent attacks from resuming.
The Ukrainian president described the proposal as the minimum necessary that Kyiv is currently demanding from Moscow: a ceasefire, an end to the killings, and a suspension of fighting along the front line. The statement marks an opening toward a ceasefire based on the existing military situation, without Zelensky announcing any renunciation of the occupied territories.
