ThyssenKrupp Steel plans to shed 5,000 employees by 2030 and a further 6,000 by selling business activities or transferring to external service providers. The cuts represent about 40% of the company's workforce, which currently stands at 27,000. The company is facing significant losses due to overcapacity in the global steel market.
