Three men, aged 44, 45, and 48, have been arrested in London on suspicion of assisting Russian intelligence services. The operation was carried out by the anti-terrorism police, and the arrests took place in areas of west and central London. They have been detained under Section 3 of the National Security Act and are in police custody.
Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the anti-terrorism police in London, stated that the number of individuals recruited as "proxies" by foreign intelligence services is on the rise. He warned that activities of this kind will be investigated, and those involved may face serious charges and severe consequences in the event of a conviction.
