At a meeting in Toulon, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and French President Emmanuel Macron emphasized that the war in Ukraine could continue for the long term. Merz stated that maintaining the international coalition supporting Ukraine is essential, and allies are ready to provide concrete assistance. There was also discussion about a possible meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelensky, but Merz mentioned that Putin has imposed unacceptable conditions.
