During an operation to capture Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan army fired two shots from Russian anti-aircraft defense systems, but missed the target due to insufficient training of the military personnel, said Russia's ambassador to Venezuela, Sergei Melik-Bagdasarov. He emphasized that although the army had equipment, the lack of training led to the mission's failure. However, Melik-Bagdasarov assured that military cooperation between Russia and Venezuela continues, and Russia honors its commitments, including the maintenance of weapon systems.

Criticism of the effectiveness of Russian anti-aircraft defense systems has been amplified by comments from American officials, who suggested that these systems were neutralized during the raid. The Kremlin reaffirmed its interest in investing in Venezuela and continued to develop military projects in the country.
