The Vatican has sent humanitarian aid to Ukraine, following appeals from Ukrainian bishops regarding the difficulties faced by the population due to attacks on energy infrastructure.

Three trucks with aid left from the Church of Saint Sophia in Rome and arrived in the cities of Fastiv and Kyiv, which have been severely affected by bombings. Among the materials sent are generators, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, nutritional supplements, and melatonin, the latter being requested due to sleep problems caused by the stress generated by ongoing attacks. The Vatican has also announced that more shipments of support are being prepared. Pope Leo XIV has consistently called for a "just and lasting peace" in Ukraine, an initiative supported by the authorities in Kyiv but rejected by Russia.
