The virtual embassy of the USA has issued a warning for American citizens in Iran, urging them to leave the country immediately due to increased security risks and ongoing internet disruptions. Furthermore, the embassy emphasized that assistance from the American government is limited in Iran and recommended that citizens plan alternative means of communication.
In the notification dated February 5, the Embassy suggested leaving by land through Armenia or Turkey, if safe. American citizens have been advised to avoid demonstrations and to have an independent exit plan from government assistance. Additionally, citizens with dual American and Iranian citizenship must use Iranian passports to leave the country, as Iran does not recognize dual citizenship.
The warning comes ahead of scheduled discussions between the USA and Iran in Oman, without clear details about the agenda of these meetings.
