The American Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, emphasized that the U.S. will not allow Beijing to control global supply chains, describing China's actions as an economic coercion maneuver. China, the world's leading producer of rare metals, recently announced stricter export controls, which provoked negative reactions from American officials and was criticized by Donald Trump, who threatened tariffs.

However, Bessent adopted a conciliatory tone, mentioning that China is open to discussions. Additionally, the European Union expressed concerns regarding the new Chinese rules and stated it is ready to respond in a coordinated manner within the G7.
