The American Secretary of the Treasury, Scott Bessent, announced that the United States has blocked cryptocurrencies worth 344 million dollars, held in portfolios linked to Iran.
This move is part of a broader strategy to increase financial pressures on the Iranian regime, in the context of Tehran's attempts to move funds outside the country. Bessent emphasized that Washington targets all financial lines associated with the regime, aiming to degrade Iran's ability to generate and repatriate funds.
These actions come in the wake of escalating tensions, with Iran closing the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for actions by the United States and Israel.
Despite a temporary ceasefire, negotiations between the two parties have failed, and American officials continue to collaborate with Gulf nations to restrict Iran's access to financial resources.
