In a large-scale operation, the United States Coast Guard unloaded 34 tons of narcotics confiscated in the last three months at Port Everglades, Florida, including 28 tons of cocaine and 6.5 tons of marijuana. This amount, valued at 473 million dollars, is enough to cause a fatal overdose for the entire population of the state of Florida. The 19 operations conducted in the Eastern Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea culminated in the seizure of over four tons of cocaine on July 23.
