The United States and China have agreed on a framework deal for TikTok, allowing the app to remain active in the US.

The framework agreement between the USA and China targets the sale of American assets to an owner supported by the USA, allowing the application to avoid the planned shutdown on September 17. Scott Bessent, the US Treasury Secretary, mentioned that the details remain unclear, but an extension of the deadline is expected. This comes in the context of broader discussions about tariffs and economic policies, after the Trump administration threatened to ban the application on national security grounds. Former President Joe Biden imposed a similar law requiring TikTok to separate from its parent company ByteDance.
