Starting next year, the United Kingdom will send an additional 400 troops to Estonia, according to a new defense agreement signed in Tallinn by British Defense Minister Dan Jarvis and his Estonian counterpart, Hanno Pevkur. This measure aims to strengthen NATO's eastern flank, with the total number of British troops in Estonia set to increase from 800 to 1,200 starting in April 2027.
Jarvis emphasized that the British military presence is essential for the defense of NATO territory and for deterring Russian aggression. The agreement provides for equipping British forces with vehicles, advanced weapons, and high-tech drones, adapted for operation in Estonia. There will also be closer collaboration in the field of new military technologies. British troops have been deployed in Estonia since 2016, as part of Operation Cabrit, as part of the United Kingdom's commitment to NATO.
