The UN Council for Nuclear Oversight requested, on Wednesday, that Iran fully cooperate with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), demanding detailed information about its stock of military-grade nuclear materials and access for inspectors to Iranian nuclear sites. A resolution adopted by the IAEA's board of governors emphasized that this information is 'essential and urgent' to verify the absence of diversion of nuclear materials.

The resolution was supported by 21 countries, including France, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States, while Russia, China, and Niger opposed it. Since the attacks by Israel and the United States on Iranian nuclear sites in 2025, Iran has not allowed IAEA inspectors access. Iran claims it is not developing nuclear weapons and that its program is peaceful, but the Iranian ambassador to the IAEA condemned the resolution, asserting that it ignores Iran's cooperation with the agency.
