Previously, Iran warned the United States that it could resume the conflict in a “longer” form than the previous confrontation and conveyed messages indicating preparations for expanded attacks, including by intensifying the targeting of infrastructure in the region. At the same time, Tehran threatened an “economic war,” announcing the expansion of measures against maritime transport in the Persian Gulf and discussing an exclusion zone, along with a navigation corridor through the Strait of Hormuz.
On the American side, intelligence services warned that Iran had intensified its efforts to target U.S. diplomats and officials, including through assassination plans at advanced stages, while Washington reduced personnel from several missions. In parallel, the American press reported that the United States and Israel were preparing scenarios for a possible operation against Iran after the November 3 elections, although officially the U.S. remained open to a diplomatic solution as well.
