The UN Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities accuses North Korea of serious abuses, such as forced sterilizations, imposed abortions, and infanticide among newborns with disabilities. It is mentioned that persons with disabilities are used in clinical experiments without consent, and authorities are called to prohibit these practices. Additionally, the stigmatization of persons with disabilities and the lack of adequate legal protection in the Constitution are emphasized. Estimates indicate that 5.5% of the North Korean population, or 1.41 million people, have disabilities.
