North Korean leader Kim Jong Un weighs over 140 kilograms and is considered “extremely obese,” but currently shows no signs of a medical problem, according to information provided by South Korean intelligence services. The data was presented on Wednesday by South Korean lawmaker Youn Kun-young, who cited classified intelligence information from Seoul.
According to the parliamentarian, Kim Jong Un’s weight indicates a high risk of cardiovascular disease. However, the North Korean leader has reportedly shown no physical difficulties. His health is being closely monitored by his personal medical team.
Kim Jong Un’s health is a subject of international interest, given that North Korea possesses nuclear weapons. Speculation intensified in 2020, when the Pyongyang leader was absent from public view for approximately 20 days.
His father and grandfather, Kim Jong Il and Kim Il Sung, were also smokers and obese and died following heart attacks. Kim Jong Un is known for his preference for luxury foods such as caviar, lobster, and foie gras.
