Pedro Sánchez declared on platform X that his government will propose the elimination of the seasonal time change in the European Union, considering that this practice no longer makes sense. In a video, he emphasized that changing the time twice a year does not contribute to energy savings and has a negative impact on people's health. Sánchez intends to present this proposal on Monday, aiming for its implementation in 2026.
He mentioned that the majority of citizens in Spain and Europe oppose this practice, and his arguments are based on scientific studies indicating disruption of biological rhythms. He will also remind European leaders that, six years ago, they voted to put an end to the time change. In Romania, the transition to winter time occurs annually on the last Sunday in October.
