Taleb al-Abdulmohsen, a 51-year-old man from Saudi Arabia, has been accused of killing six people and attempting to kill several hundred others after he intentionally drove his SUV into a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, in December 2024. Chief Prosecutor Matthias Böttcher stated that the attack was planned and unfolded quickly, with most victims losing their lives within seconds. Among the victims are a nine-year-old boy and five women aged between 45 and 75, while another 338 people were injured, 31 of whom sustained serious injuries.

Abdulmohsen, described as a critic of Islam and a sympathizer of right-wing extremism, is believed to have been motivated by personal grievances and a sense of injustice. German authorities are accused of not intervening sufficiently, despite warnings received from Saudi Arabia. His trial will take place under strict security measures, and if convicted, he faces life imprisonment. The attack has intensified the debate about immigration in Germany, influencing political outcomes and support for the far-right party Alternative for Germany (AfD).
