The President of Hungary, Tamás Sulyok, stated that he will not resign, even though the deadline set by Prime Minister Péter Magyar expired on Sunday evening.

Sulyok argues that the situation must be analyzed according to the Constitution and is awaiting the opinion of the Venice Commission. Prime Minister Magyar reacted harshly, accusing Sulyok of not defending the rule of law and only being concerned about his own salary.

Magyar set a resignation deadline for Sulyok and other officials, including Attorney General Gábor Bálint Nagy. In a Facebook post, Magyar reminded of the approaching deadline and announced a visit to the president.
