The American Department of Defense announced the suspension of the deployment of over 4,000 soldiers from the 2nd Armored Brigade of the US Army in Europe, an unexpected decision for military officials in Washington, according to sources. This information was communicated during a meeting with the US Army European Command (EUCOM).
The deployment was planned for a nine-month mission in Poland, as part of the military personnel rotation, and some equipment was already on its way to the destination. EUCOM had recommended that the personnel not be replaced after the mission's conclusion, but did not insist on an immediate cancellation. American troops were to collaborate with Polish forces as part of the operation "Atlantic Resolve," aimed at supporting NATO allies. This suspension comes a few weeks after the withdrawal of 5,000 soldiers from Germany, and Poland has reaffirmed its willingness to host more American troops.
