The Pentagon has requested the White House to approve a funding request of over 200 billion dollars for the war in Iran, according to a recent report. For nearly three weeks, the United States, along with Israel, has been conducting attacks against Iran to "dismantle the security apparatus of the Iranian regime." President Donald Trump has stated that Iran poses an "imminent" threat due to its nuclear ambitions and the development of long-range missiles. The Pentagon reported over 7,800 targets struck and over 8,000 combat flights conducted. Although the 200 billion dollar request would require at least 60 votes in the Senate to pass, some officials in the Trump administration do not believe it will succeed in Congress. Senator Richard Blumenthal stated that he will not support this request, considering it could be interpreted as an approval of war. A recent poll showed that 56% of Americans disapprove of how Trump is handling the situation in Iran.
