The United States Department of Defense has intensified concerns regarding the intelligence activities conducted by Israel, raising the counterintelligence alert level to 'critical', according to some American officials. An assessment conducted by the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) highlights Israel's capability to carry out human espionage operations and technical information collection.
Officials are worried about Israel's efforts to obtain information about the Trump administration's decisions regarding conflicts in the Middle East. The Israeli Embassy has rejected the accusations, stating that the activities of Israeli services are directed against enemies, not allies. In this context, the relations between Trump and Netanyahu are tense, and the divergences regarding the strategy towards Iran are becoming increasingly evident. Although cooperation between the two countries remains strong, the emergence of these concerns could erode mutual trust.
