Russian President Vladimir Putin and Trump’s envoy, Steve Witkoff, have been involved in a scandal related to a peace plan for Ukraine, which has been dubbed "the Kremlin's fantasy" by Western officials. A deleted tweet by Witkoff suggested that the plan, developed with Moscow's consultation, excludes Ukraine and European allies, which has generated controversy.
Journalist Michael Weiss speculated that Witkoff accidentally posted a private message referring to Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's envoy. The 28-point plan would require Ukraine to cede Donbas and reduce its armed forces, which has been rejected by American and European officials as an extravagant wish list. Diplomats in Brussels, Berlin, and Paris have considered the rumors to be a Russian maneuver to create pressure on Kyiv. Although Ukraine has not officially commented, sources indicate that the proposals are unacceptable. Andrii Yermak, Zelensky's chief of staff, stated that Ukraine is working with the U.S. to achieve a just peace.
