The French government is facing major tensions after Prime Minister François Bayrou took responsibility for the budget reforms. The leader of the left-wing opposition, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, has initiated the procedure for the impeachment of President Emmanuel Macron, holding him responsible for the political crisis. Although the procedure, which will be launched on September 23, is provided for by the Constitution, the chances of success are low, as there are no precedents in the history of the Fifth Republic.
