The intelligence services in the Netherlands, AIVD and MIVD, have stated that they have become more cautious in their collaboration with the American agencies CIA and NSA, due to concerns related to the politicization of information and the respect for human rights under the Trump administration. In an interview, the heads of the agencies acknowledged that sometimes they no longer share certain information and that they evaluate each data exchange to avoid its political use. Although relations with the American agencies remain good, the Netherlands has strengthened its collaboration with European services, especially in the context of threats from Russia and China. Akerboom highlighted the increase in cyberattacks from Russia, while China has become a cyber superpower, having the capability to access the data of Dutch journalists and officials.
