The Kremlin confirmed on Wednesday that American President Donald Trump did not congratulate Vladimir Putin on the occasion of his 73rd birthday on October 7. The Kremlin's spokesperson, Dmitri Peskov, stated that no congratulations were sent from Trump. In contrast, Putin congratulated Trump on his birthday on June 14.

Although Trump claimed that he "gets along very well" with Putin, he threatened Russia with the delivery of Tomahawk missiles to Ukraine. Russian-American relations are tense, especially in the context of the conflict in Ukraine, where Russia and Ukraine have different priorities. The Kremlin expressed support for Trump but avoided direct criticism, considering his pro-Ukraine stance. Putin also warned that the delivery of missiles to Ukraine would severely affect relations between the two countries.
