The Mubaraz vessel, loaded with liquefied natural gas (LNG), has successfully crossed the Strait of Hormuz, being the first ship to do so since the beginning of the war in the Middle East, two months ago.
According to tracking data, Mubaraz loaded liquefied gas from the Das Island facility in the United Arab Emirates and was observed south of India. Although it was stationed in the Persian Gulf, the ship ceased to transmit signals around March 31, reappearing on April 27 east of India.
Ship traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has significantly decreased due to blockades imposed by Iran and the U.S., leading to a rise in prices in the global energy market. Although it is common for ships to turn off their transponders to avoid detection, the passage of any LNG vessel through the strait has not been confirmed until now. Mubaraz is now signaling that its destination is a terminal in China.
