The wildfires in southern France, especially in the village of Le Porge, have led to the discovery of hundreds of shells and munitions from World War II. The local fire chief stated that the explosions, initially mistaken for those caused by gas canisters, were caused by munitions that detonated due to the heat generated by the fires.

Mayor Martial Zaninetti reported over 100 explosions during the fire, comparing the noise to the "sound of war." Although most residents were able to return home after demining operations, certain areas remain off-limits.

The fire destroyed over 180 homes, and the discovered munitions come from both Germany and France. Wildfires have recently affected several European countries, with France being one of the most impacted, with approximately 42,000 hectares consumed by flames.
