During an official visit to Bucharest, the European Commissioner for Home Affairs and Migration, Magnus Brunner, stated that Romania has a significant contribution to protecting the external borders of the European Union, highlighting the positive assessment of the country's efforts in the process of joining the Schengen area. Brunner met with Deputy Prime Minister Cătălin Predoiu, appreciating his work and emphasizing the importance of support provided by the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, Frontex. The Commissioner mentioned that Romania is a leader in implementing reforms in the field of asylum and migration, having an advanced IT system at border crossing points. He also emphasized the need to continue combating illegal migration to ensure the security of the EU's borders.
