The President of the European Commission, Kaja Kallas, emphasized the extensive support of member states for training Ukrainian military personnel in Ukraine, in the context of a possible de-escalation of the conflict with Russia. At a meeting of EU defense ministers, Kallas mentioned that changing the mandate of the EUMAM mission would require unanimous approval from all 27 states. So far, the EU has trained approximately 80,000 Ukrainian soldiers since 2022, and the continuation of these actions could be part of post-war security guarantees.
