European citizens, including Romanians, will need an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to travel to the United Kingdom from February 25, 2026.

The British Embassy in Bucharest has announced that the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) will come into effect on February 25, 2026. This will be required for European citizens, including Romanians, who wish to travel to the United Kingdom for tourism, visiting, or short stays.

ETA is a digital permission valid for two years or until the passport expires, allowing multiple travels to the UK. The cost for obtaining the authorization is £16, and the application can be made through the official UK ETA app or on the GOV.UK/ETA website.

The decision regarding the application will be communicated via email, usually within one day, but it may take up to 3 working days. During the validity of the ETA, travels to the United Kingdom are unlimited.
