A ruling in the appeal process of Marine Le Pen, the leader of the National Front, will be pronounced on July 7, at 1:30 PM local time. The Public Prosecutor's Office has requested a five-year ineligibility sentence for Le Pen, who intends to run for the fourth time for the presidency of France.
Upon leaving the hearings, Le Pen stated that she would prefer the ruling to be pronounced as soon as possible. Her lawyer emphasized the importance of the decision in the context of the upcoming presidential elections, warning that it could significantly influence the course of the elections. In the first instance, Le Pen was sentenced to wear an electronic bracelet for two years and to five years of ineligibility, a sentence she has contested. The Court of Appeal will decide whether she will be able to participate in the 2027 elections.
