A man from Totton, England, Benjamin Lewis, was arrested after stealing sheep and consuming their blood, abandoning the remains in front of churches in New Forest.

During the investigation, he identified himself as 'Count Dracula', believing that drinking blood would grant him immortality. DNA traces found on the remains of a lamb led to his identification. Lewis admitted to animal theft and was committed indefinitely to a psychiatric unit after being deemed a threat to himself and others.

Investigators discovered drawings and ritual notes at his home, and the psychiatrist mentioned abnormal behavior and his obsessions dating back to adolescence. Lewis has a history of similar behavior, including a previous conviction for harassing a vicar.
