At the Winter Olympics, the U.S. Vice President, JD Vance, was met with boos and whistles at the San Siro stadium in Milan, which was interpreted by the EU's high-ranking diplomat, Kaja Kallas, as evidence of 'European pride'.

Kallas commented that the European audience reacted to the critical remarks made by American officials about Europe. Vance, who has been criticized for his comments about the EU, accused the European bloc of undermining freedom of expression and expressed dissatisfaction regarding the double standards in relations with the U.S.

Although he was invited to the Munich Security Conference, Vance will not attend, and the U.S. delegation will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. This situation reflects the current tensions between the EU and the U.S.
