The armed attack at the Correspondents' Dinner took place at the Washington Hilton hotel, the same place where Ronald Reagan was shot in 1981.

The armed incident on Sunday morning took place at the Washington Hilton, the same location where, on March 30, 1981, President Ronald Reagan was shot by John Hinckley Jr. while returning to his limousine after a speech.

Reagan survived but suffered serious injuries, including a broken rib and a punctured lung, and was rushed to George Washington University Hospital. In that incident, press secretary James Brady, a Secret Service agent, and a police officer were also injured. Brady suffered severe brain damage, which led to his disability and, eventually, his death in 2014.

Hinckley was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was institutionalized until 2016.

The site of the shooting is marked by a commemorative plaque on the facade of the hotel.
