Three administrators of the tourist complex 'Ferma Dacilor' in Tohani, Prahova County, have been sent to trial under judicial control for negligent destruction, following the devastating fire on December 26, 2023, which resulted in the deaths of eight people. Investigators established that the guesthouse had been operating for seven years without a fire safety authorization and that the fire was caused by a short circuit in an inadequate electrical installation. Additionally, the building was not fireproofed, and the alarm system was non-functional, which hindered the rescue of the victims.
Prosecutors concluded that the violation of legislation created favorable conditions for the outbreak of the fire. The case has been sent to the Mizil Court for resolution. The fire occurred on the second day of Christmas and led to the loss of eight lives, including a son of the guesthouse owner. Subsequent checks showed that the guesthouse was operating without the necessary permits, and the investigation led to the reopening of criminal proceedings against some officials from ISU Prahova for corruption.
