Announced in May by the government, the measure was published on Monday, September 1, in the "Royal Gazette", the official journal of Thailand, and will come into effect 15 days from the date of publication.
The reduction of the duration of visa-free stays in Thailand will target tourists from at least 60 countries, including those from the European Union, starting from September 15.
Tourists from 93 countries previously benefited from a 60-day visa exemption, a duration that will be reduced to 30 days for at least 60 countries, including the EU, Switzerland, the United States, Canada, or Israel, included in a new list.
